Metro Security has won a (postponed) 2020 Fraud Award for its innovative Metro Analytic Retail System (M.A.R.S). The company has been successful in the ‘Most Innovative In-Store Surveillance’ category, whilst also being shortlisted in the ‘Best Collaborative Solution’ and ‘Vendor of the Year’ categories. The 2020 Fraud Awards were presented this year (2021), having been rescheduled due to the pandemic.

Metro Security previously collected a ‘Highly Commended’ Retail Fraud award in 2015, in the ‘Most Innovative In-Store Surveillance Solution’ category, for an earlier version of the M.A.R.S system – since when it has been significantly updated and operationally expanded.

Sponsored by WIS International, the Fraud Awards have become the Oscars of the risk management industry, showcasing and celebrating the very best individual and team performances, innovative new products and winning industry strategies.

M.A.R.S is a multi-functional software analytics-based system that combines demonstrable loss prevention capabilities along with a range of complementary retail management, operational, marketing and staff training tools. It was granted a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, in the Innovation category, in 2019.

Businesses using M.A.R.S include the Frasers Group (helping hundreds of Sports Direct stores around the UK and wider afield across Europe, as well as Flannels, House of Fraser and Evans Cycle stores), alongside other retailers such as forecourt fuel station operators Certas Energy, Harvest Energy and George Hammond Plc (recently acquired by MGF).

The M.A.R.S system’s latest accolade shows how Metro Security (GB) Plc is continuing to invest in its ongoing development, says Metro’s MD Trevor Wallace: “On behalf of our customers across the retail and other sectors we’re putting significant R&D resources into the development of M.A.R.S, using the latest technological developments to increase the system’s existing capabilities and further expand its features to help clients address their specific needs.”
