RISKXtra magazine has published an article penned by Metro’s MD, Trevor Wallace, describing how the Metro Analytic Retail Solution (M.A.R.S) offers a lifeline to Britain’s hard-pressed High Street retailers.
They require real and tangible assistance in combating rising crime-related losses. Trevor describes the alarming findings of the British Retail Consortium’s latest Crime Survey, which reveals that the total cost of retail crime has risen again to around the £900 million mark. That represents an increase of 28% in just a year. Factored alongside the £1 billion spent by retailers on prevention, crime now accounts for around £1.9 billion in losses to the industry. This is equivalent to approximately 20% of the estimated profits of the entire retail sector.
In the article, Trevor argues that the solution lies in technology which delivers tangible loss prevention results, while simultaneously boosting bottom line returns for store owners and managers. Developed entirely in-house by Metro Security, M.A.R.S is a 2019 Queen’s Award winner and has previously been ‘Highly Commended’ in the Retail Fraud Awards. M.A.R.S is also shortlisted for the 2019 Retail Systems Awards.
